As every trout fisherman knows, each season offers something distinct and special from the others.
Fly fishing season in Bariloche is all year-round in Moreno lake and Alicura. Season in Patagonian National Parks runs from November 1st through the end of May. Every season a new regulation is released by our government and the National Park authorities. After booking a trip we will send you a comprehensive information pack and a check list, to be sure you arrive with everything you will really need.
Spring time - November & December. This time of year water levels are typically high, though clarity is not an issue since almost all of the rivers flow out of the lakes. These can be productive months for the large fish, as well as those searching for sheer numbers because the fish have not yet been pressured. We find this the time to fool even the tough ones! Temperatures will range from 35F to 75F. Rain gear and warm clothing are strongly recommended.
Summer time – January & February. During these months wet wading is possible, but waders are always a good idea. Dry fly fishing is better and the climate is comfortable. Temperatures will range from 45F to 85F. This is our favorite time of the year in regards to comfort and the fact that all waters are accessible and fishable.
Fall - March, April & May. Weather conditions during this time of the year are less predictable, though the behavior of the fish is. The brookies, browns, and salmon begin spawning movement, and this is definitely your best chance for a trophy brookie or brown. Come prepared for any weather; temperatures can range from 30F to 75F.
